![]() ![]() We totally hung out a lot and talked about co-teaching a workshop, but that didn't happen, although she was co-teaching a workshop at this conference as well as leading a breakfast roundtables on CRFs that I was taking. The woman I met in Atlanta at my first conference. But who should I run into while I was there but Liz! Anyway, yeah, that was probably when I did it, since this afternoon, I went over to the convention center to pick up my materials and get ready for the Conference Coach Connection. I might have actually done this run-through on Thursday night. I got through it even more quickly than I had the night before. I know! I was kind of nervous because I hadn't had a lot of time to rehearse. Which you were teaching for CREDIT this year! For now, I went back to my hotel room and maybe did my second run-through of my cancer pharmacology workshop. It wasn't super cold, just mildly chilly. ![]() It wasn't really the right weather for that anyway. NO! I totally never got around to doing that, even though I saw signs. So then you walked back to the hotel and checked out the indoor water park. He recalled that one being good and thanked me for the rec. You bet I did! There was this guy reading The Living Dead 2, and I told him that was a good choice and pimped Feed to him since the anthology contains "Everglades," a Mira Grant story set in the same universe. See anyone interesting in the establishment? I walked to POTBELLY, dude! They had a Potbelly! And I needed a chicken salad sandwich with that great mix of peppers. So what'd you do once you got to your hotel, the Hilton City Center Milwaukee? How about we skip the plane trip to Milwaukee, except for the time where I texted schnappycat in Denver and she waved at me. They don't care about my medical writing conferences. Can we get through five days in a reasonable amount of time? We don't want to bore the living crap out of everyone. all in all, a much more satisfying experience. It was that time again! Time again for the AMWA Annual Conference, this time in scenic Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It's a shame, but I'll never come back here and strongly recommend that you don't waste your time or money here either. So, given that I knew the food wasn't anything special, we left and decided to spend our money at a place that was actually happy to see us, wanted our business, and had much better food (Mo's Irish Pub). In fact, it actually appeared that nobody had reservations and they were all sent to the bar to join us for drinks/appetizers. After an hour, we asked, "How much longer?" and were told "5 minutes." And, for the previous 40 minutes, we'd been sitting in the bar staring at a completely empty two-person table! At that point (now about 7:40), realizing how many open tables were in the place (and how few people with reservations were coming in the door), it became clear to us that this was all a gimmick to get people to spend money on drinks and appetizers at the bar BEFORE sitting down and spending more money on dinner. After some deliberation, we decided we'd wait. After going through the "you don't know the password" shenanigans, we went inside and were told that the wait was 45 minutes. Yes, the theme can be fun but, arriving at 5:45, we were told "sorry, we're booked until 7:30 - all you can do is have drinks and appetizers in the bar." Given the early time and the lack of much activity, we found ourselves standing back outside wondering "Was she serious?!" A customer coming out told us "There are plenty of open tables inside you should go in again and ask." So we did. I had eaten here about 24 years ago and remembered it as being a fun theme, so I thought I'd take my wife here as a fun surprise. ![]()
